Even as a tweet from international pop sensation Rihanna and activist Greta Thunberg over the farm protests was jumped upon by the opposition to target the Modi government over its failure in handling the crisis and its subsequent reaction from the MEA that issued a press note with two hashtags #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda what is now emerging is that perhaps the opposition was not only hasty in lapping up what seems to be a wider, more organised and perhaps malicious campaign of calumny directed not just against the government but also the Indian state and perhaps the global tweet storm wasn’t as innocent and innocuous as some would like us to believe. Consider some facts that perhaps explain why the campaign seems more sponsored and less spontaneous , more organised and less organic or as the PM would put it more of a prayog ( experiment) and less of a sanyog ( coincidence )
Activist Greta who perhaps accidentally tweeted out a very detailed toolkit and later deleted it and posted an updated , more sanitised version let out way too many secrets. For instance the old and now deleted toolkit ((but digitally archived for posterity)) revealed a website and hashtag Ask India Why. This website is allegedly run by a self proclaimed Khalistani Mo Dhaliwal who has not only posted pro KHALISTANI material on his social media but has been caught on candid camera speaking about this. His foundation the Poetic Justice Foundation was planning this for months and their dossier now accessed by media also reveals the sinister plot to target and defame India using the Kisan as a prop. It speaks about mobilising people along religious and cultural lines. The Greta Toolkit also put out the entire strategy by these forces to run up a Global TWEET storm- to rope in influencers and celebrities like Rihanna ((her example was quoted)) and also the template and text of tweets to be used by them and other such pro-farm protest handles. Infact one of the tweets was copy pasted and tweeted out by the official handle of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee’s Mahila Wing word to word. This gave the BJP an opportunity to hint at collusion between these forces and the Opposition. The tweet has been subsequently deleted but if there was nothing to hide why delete the tweet? Also is the Congress finding it difficult to justify why they had to copy paste a tweet from such a toolkit ! Could they not have independently run a campaign that they needed to borrow from a controversial handbook of propaganda put together by some enemical forces?
The reason these forces are being labelled as such is because the Ask India Why portal talks about issues extraneous to farm laws! It speaks of Sikh sovereignty , CAA , NRC and abrogation of Article 370! What does any of this have to do with the farm laws? Why is the opposition using such an propaganda machinery to further its cause on the kisan front? Is Kisan only a Bahana for these nefarious groups that work in tandem with the BANNED Khalistani group Sikhs For Justice ((SFJ) and is India the real Nishana? Would the Modi government then be wrong to say it’s a larger global anti India plot with vested interests at play?
Sources in the government via its dossier have hinted that there are no free lunches nor free tweets in the global scenario. They allude to a link between Mo Dhaliwal who runs a brand management company Skyrocket that designed and ran a campaign for Jagmeet Singh – a controversial Canadian MP whose open endorsement of Khalistan and Sikh’s right to self determination even irked the UPA government and Captain Amarinder Singh of Punjab who rightly slammed him. I am not suggesting any influencer took money to tweet but the fact that there was a machinery at work to organise and coordinate this effort is amply clear. The Delhi Police has filed a case in this matter and intends to get to the bottom of the toolkit of anarchy because it also caused for “physical actions” at Indian embassies and government offices on 26th January and perhaps was a driving force behind the despicable scenes we witnessed at Red Fort this Republic Day!
The question the government and its sympathisers are asking is why give international anti India forces a handle on internal issues. Modi virodh me desh virodh kyu? Surely as a democracy we are mature enough and our institutions are robust enough to handle protests even if it’s by a handful of farmers. The Modi government has been in dialogue with these farmers. Even the SC has intervened. Should we not have faith in our democratic institutions? Yes Rihanna and selectivists like Greta have a right to comment on India and its policies but equally we have a right to call them out for their uninformed or half baked information or their motivations. Greta for instance champions the issue of climate change but is silent on roll back of anti stubble burning laws demanded by the protestors that will add to air pollution in North India.
The issue is also about the role of the opposition. From Article 370 to Surgical Strikes to Galwan clash time and again they seem to land up on the wrong side merely to parrot a line against the government. They could take a leaf out of the book of Vajpayee the opposition leader. He fiercely opposed the Congress but never did he let that opposition to Indira Gandhi transmutate into anti India positions. Infact Narsimha Rao sent him to argue India’s case at UN against Pakistan. Recently when Canadian PM Trudeau attacked us on the farm laws and protests once again the opposition lapped it as a chance to target the government but wasn’t that at the cost of our sovereignty and self respect! The same government that causes our farmers harm at WTO will lecture us on agricultural reforms ?
When it comes to external enemies and interests we should stand as one nation not as Modi and anti Modi. We can fight our domestic battles and for that we shouldn’t need the clutches of farming experts Rihanna, Greta or Mia Khalifa.
