Do you like making money, being entertained, and learning valuable information about startups and investing? If you answered yes – you should check out Meet the Drapers (MTD) on ET Now.
What is Meet the Drapers you ask? It’s a better version of CNBC’s business reality show, Shark Tank. Please note I’m partly biased here because Brand Capital International – the firm I work for – has been a proud investment and media partner of since Season 3, and that one of the startups I sourced and co-led an investment in, CricClubs, also appeared on the show (if you’re unfamiliar with CricClubs, check out my blog article on them here). But I also say this because unlike Shark Tank, viewers of Meet the Drapers can invest in the presenting startups too! This is the show’s twist, courtesy of popular crowdfunding platform, Republic.
Each week, different startups from different categories pitch to the Draper family for a chance to win a spot in the finale and receive a possible investment. The Drapers have been venture capitalists for multiple generations, so not only does their understanding of the venture and entrepreneurial ecosystem transcend generations, but over the years they’ve managed to build an impressive portfolio that includes investments like Tesla, SpaceX, Robinhood, Coinbase, Skype, and many more. As such, an investment from the Drapers is a Silicon Valley stamp of approval.
For startups, this is an immense opportunity. And for viewers, not only will you be entertained and educated (after absorbing the Draper family’s insights on the presenting companies each week), but you can also make money as an investor through Republic! What’s not to love?
Each episode also features a guest judge. Some notable guest judges include: 4x NFL Superbowl Winner, football legend, and Investor, Ronnie Lott; Times Group’s President of North America & President of Brand Capital International, Neville Taraporewalla; Co-Founder of Siri and international speaker, Adam Cheyer; Founder & CEO of edX, Anant Agarwal, and many more.
To catch the current season of Meet the Drapers, new episodes air every week on ET Now, Saturday at 10pm IST and Sunday at 12pm IST.
