Yes, you read it right, but you all must be thinking that I am not a doctor nor a paramedic or someone in the administration then why am I talking about my work amidst this pandemic? Yes, the overall scenario of the pandemic is scary and this is the need of the hour when we all need to stand up to our country and society. I am just one among the few, we are the people who are on duty 24×7 in shifts so that you can stay comfortably at home and attend to your daily routine from the comfort of your home. We are at work so that in this hour of need our hospitals can run seamlessly and help save as many people as we can. Yes, I am one of the proud employees working in India’s largest power generating company NTPC. And I am using the word proud because I am able to contribute in my own miniscule way to bring power to you all.
Just imagine for a second a day without electricity? And if you all are not aware a power plant is operating non-stop, so while you rest peacefully just remember there are people who are working in shifts to ensure seamless power supply. When Covid hit India in 2020, I was posted in a power station at Assam. Although we went ahead and ensured proper protection of our employees yet none of my colleagues showed the slightest hesitation. Being In the essential services we knew that this was our duty and when India calls, you got to stand up for her. That’s why we are called the Power Warriors.
The power warriors has fought relentlessly in keeping the country running with uninterrupted power supply and serving the nation through selfless service to its communities and beyond. We have ensured safety at every step for our loved ones and extended family by restricting our travel and other avoidable activities. We urge our fellow citizens to adhere to the Covid guidelines and stay at home.
This very thought will further encourage us as we go to work and serve the nation to the best of our capacity. It is not our work but our pride to serve the nation. So next time you see a bulb glowing or enjoying the TV show remember us.
