You can forget about the caste system to classify Hindus these days. Instead we have come out with two novel categories of Hindus, if you will, The Bhakth and the Rational Hindu. A new breed of Hindus both, with different sets of ideologies and ideas that range from the bizarre to the au courant. These Hindus have not been classified by our vedas or the shastras based on their occupation or education. These Hindus are instead new found breeds, who have evolved from ideologies of politics and from test tubes of mere mortals on social media platforms. An artificial insemination of thoughts & dogma has led to this experimental creation which subsequently bifurcated Hindus into two profound species.
Lets start with the Bhakths. Who are they? And what constitutes a Bhakth? Lets begin with the periphery of a Bhakth. To be a true Bhakth you need to wear blinkers. These blinkers will ensure it keeps common sense and rationality away and will not allow any vision ( light ) from the front, side or the rear to penetrate through. They are blindly goal oriented, believe they have a vision, extremely focussed and have a predetermined chosen path. The focus is to chant paeans or sing bhajans in praise of a mere mortal. The chants need to be repeated, it needs to be loud until you get a migraine, it needs to be relayed and it needs to spread wildly like the New South Wales bush fires. Only then a Bhakth will truly be satisfied. Try reasoning it out with a Bhakth and you will realise you are better off spending your time somewhere else, like speaking to a parakeet or grooming the neighbours dog. You will consciously realise what a precious waste of time this exercise is. You will see the shackles of the Bhakth rise , chests swell and tonsils inflate. In this debate , everything physiological in the Bhakth will function besides the cerebrum and it tires you.
The Bhakths also work very well as a team, they have a hard core support scavenging system . You need to imagine some parts of National Geographic scenes played out here. When the pack leader of a group of hyenas discovers mostly entrails, it will start howling and its friends and relatives will all stealthily come out of their hideouts to feast on the left overs. Typically there is a feast over rubbish ,a celebration over left overs that ideally needs to be trashed. The hullabaloo is quite deafening and yet again you are likely to get a migraine listening to it. These hyenas will troll you in packs especially on social media if you dare to even as much bat an eyelid against the one they worship. Any left over you throw, they will grab it.
Now who is a Rational Hindu? Any sane person who does not bear any form of resemblance or affirms to typical psychological characteristics of a Bhakth. Yes, the rational Hindu is logical, believes fully in his / her religion , stands by the tenets of Hinduism but does not wear blinkers. The rational Hindu is calmer, maintains dignity, is a lot more scientific and has the temperament to ask the right questions and questions the system especially when it is failing. This is something that the Bhakth can never do, the Bhakth has never been programmed to question you see. The Bhakth has been programmed to only fawn over its leader who is centric to its worship and existence.
Bhakths feast on the Rational Hindu and all Non Hindus typically. They are unable to digest facts and believe in fiction and superstition a lot more. They create these mythological dramas out of ordinary events and a hullabaloo over nothing. A Bhakth the other day tweeted exactly this — “ India won the first wave with no PPEs, infrastructure or test kits and India will win the second wave too”. This exasperates the rational Hindu a fair bit. The Rational Hindu typically does not waste time in even engaging in conversations with these Bhakths and will typically indulge in meaningful debates between themselves and with other sensible people. The Rational Hindu is solution oriented unlike the Bhakth who is just plainly disoriented. The Rational Hindu believes in a pluralistic society unlike the Bhakth who acts like a sociopath. The Rational Hindu is a lot more intellectual and is quite clear that you can make only gas out of ‘gobar,’ whereas the Bhakth glides in dimwit cloudy skies propelled by ‘gobar’. Mark my words, this is the same ‘gobar’ which they believe will be their fuel to the 5 trillion dollar economy that they talk about. It is exasperating for the Rational Hindu to deal with all this, but the hope on the other side of the rainbow is that there is a Rational Indian who will one day think beyond ‘gobar’.
